D'Angelo Makes (Clothed) Comeback In 'GQ'

What hot-blooded human, regardless of gender or sexual orientation, can forget D'Angelo's "Untitled (How Does It Feel)" music video? The glistening, sweat-dribbled skin. The rippling abs and pectorals. The exemplary grooming. I was only about eleven years old when the video dropped in 2000 (stop GASPING, America!), but the mind cannot unsee things like that. "That" being D'Angelo's superhuman physique in barest form with the camera dipping to just the most TV-appropriate latitude.

Unfortunately, masterpieces though that single and video were, we didn't see much of D'Angelo after "Untitled." That all may be about to change now, though, as D makes a major comeback, hell-bent on resurrecting neo-soul and furthering his image from just "that Naked Guy" with his first interview in nearly 12 years and a menswear-clad accompanying editorial spread in the latest issue of GQ.

GQ swaddles D in designer togs - Versace separates, John Varvatos, Rick Owens, and jewelry by David Yurman - and the effect is remarkable. The tailoring is crisp but the styling is relaxed with ties left untied, buttons undone, and jackets effortlessly slung over shoulders. He looks every bit the Marvin Gaye-channelling cool falsetto his music always illustrated. Peep the full fashion spread here!
