It was only a matter of time, but the onslaught of merchandise related to The Hunger Games now extends to the land of plastic, side-braid, arrow-toting, long-legged dolls. We’re talking about the new Katniss Everdeen Barbie, of course, which is actually a real thing that you can pre-order now. The fine folks over at Entertainment Weekly offered an exclusive sneak-peek at the new Barbie doll which, we have to say, looks very much like her real-life counterpart played by Jennifer Lawrence complete with Games-gear including her seemingly fire-resistant jacket and Mockingjay pin. But, you guys, there’s something else going on behind these gray eyes.

It’s weird but this Katniss Barbie actually feels very Kat-like. Aside from the upturned eyelashes (we hesitate to say cat-eyed but, really, they are) and the weird depth in the pupils, the lips are so J-Law in their light-pink plumpness that it’s eerie. Katniss Barbie designer Bill Greening says, “Hopefully Hunger Games fans can appreciate the attention to detail. The doll’s minimalistic style and details — such as her loosely braided hair and makeup-free look — also really embody the heroic character Katniss.” We couldn’t agree more; in fact, we think it’s insanely cool that there is a Barbie that is purposefully MAKEUP-FREE and not the same typically over made-up and kitted out bombshell Barbie we’re used to seeing. We also like that they chose to outfit her in actual games clothing rather than any of the flashier Cinna-designed ensembles. (But we love you Cinna Kravitz!) Greening says he chose this outfit because it was more recognizable and, of course, showcases the Mockingjay pin. Even the boots are spot-on and covetable. We never thought we’d say this about a Barbie doll, but we’re kind of digging it all including the long-bangs-in-face look. But what say you? Do you like the new Katniss Everdeen Barbie?
