You know those moments when you pass a store window and see something that makes your eyes bug out of your head and weird “AWOOOGA! AWOOOGA!” noises flood your psyche? Well, that’s exactly what happened when we spied these insane two-dimensional bags from Jump From Paper. Founded by design duo Chay Su and Rika Lin “one cozy afternoon” in Taipei, Taiwan, the line came together over a conversation on how cool it would be to make hand-drawn illustrations come to life in the form of handbags. The results may look like exactly like 2-D cartoons but they’re actually totally 3-D functional bags; in fact, the one question Su and Lin always get is, “Are they real?” They are, indeed, but if you squint your eyes like we keep doing it doesn’t look possible.

We particularly like the orange and white messenger “Cheese!” bag with strong black and white outlines. There’s even a zipper on the bottom to make it roomier. (They guarantee there’s enough space for a laptop too.) The yellow and white “Bonjour!” bag feels at home in ’dorbz city with its bright yellow pocket netting and easygoing over-the-shoulder vibe. These are bags designed to command attention. You’re pretty much guaranteed to be stopped and asked if what you’re carrying is well-cut poster board that you drew on or an honest-to-goodness REAL bag. Ranging in price from $79 t0 $99, it’s not too steep of a price to pay for foolin’ peeps, either.
