Complex magazine continues to celebrate its 10th anniversary by releasing yet ANOTHER spellbinding cover (following Justin Bieber’s jarring fashion beat down)—this time with Ms. Nicki Minaj. Nicki dished out one striped ensemble after another in her cover shoot photographed by Christian Anwander and styled by Rose Garcia. On the cover, she rocked a messy white blunt-banged bob with a black and neon green boat neck Ralph Lauren Purple Label sweater, killer rainbow nail art, and her signature light pink lips. Makeup artist Joyce Bonelli dotted Nicki’s nose with some tribal face paint, but we’re guessing that “10” around the eyes is pure CGI. If not, we seriously owe Joyce a round of drinks for making it look so perfect, but judging by the black and white tongue, we’re not too convinced just yet. In the cover story, Miss Info sat down with the rap goddess to talk about the pressures of being a female in the music world and her burgeoning fashion empire that we can’t wait to hear more about.
In a full outfit shot, Nicki rocks the same Ralph Lauren sweater from the cover paired with American Apparel leggings, hot pink Giuseppe Zanotti peep-toe pumps, and out-of-this world cat-eye sunglasses by a-morir. She accessorized with nothing but a black and white lollipop and some serious ’tude. Nicki said for women, it’s a never-ending battle for perfection because so much depends on her look. “So many things can go wrong that guys never worry about. Men walk on stage and they have their band behind them and they have their hat on and that’s it. I don’t want a pity party, but people don’t understand.”
In another holographic ensemble, she sports a swirly Obesity and Speed high-to-low dress, black fishnets, Christian Louboutin booties, a wide-brimmed red Patricia Field hat, and stacked bracelets. She switched up her beauty game with bright white lips to match her hair and even dropped some news about a fragrance deal. “I’m working on my fragrance and my apparel line,” she said. “They took stuff that I’ve worn, focused on what I like, and then they started doing sketches. They’re pretty amazing. I was like ’Oh my God, the kids are going to love this.’ It’s not gonna get done overnight, but I know that it’s something they’re going to love.” WHOOP! We can’t waitttt to see what this fashion collection is going to look like, but until then, peep the rest of her cover shoot to get your Nicki fix in the meantime.
