Easily one of the most recognized women on the planet, Jennifer Lopez is having a fashion moment. Yes, she’s had MANY throughout her decades-long music and film career. Who can ever forget that history-making cut-down-to-there Grammy dress? YOWZA. But now that she’s captured a nation’s heart as one of American Idol’s most beloved judges, there’s even more rabid attention being made about each outfit she wears on the show. (And she turns it OUT night after night waltzing to her seat in an array of peacock color ensembles and to-die-for heels.) Thus, it’s no surprise to see her on the coveted April cover of Vogue magazine stunning our eye sockets in red. Seriously, though, our eyes are popping out of our heads with this shoot.

As the cover star of the magazine’s annual shape issue, La Lopez doesn’t even need to be wearing red to kick it up; the woman is naturally gifted in the body curvature arena. What’s so refreshing about it all is that she’s healthy and opens up to the magazine in a behind-the-scenes video about staying active, dancing, and working hard to maintain her figure. “I’m not a size 2, I’m not six-feet tall. I’m really short compared to models!” she says, “I’m just a regular woman. I wear a size 6, and when I eat too much over the holidays maybe a size 8… I fluctuate. It’s more about being healthy and feeling good about yourself.”

Wearing what just might be the most perfect red dress of all time by Michael Kors, tipped out in matching Jimmy Choo patent leather platform peep-toes and a gold cuff from Clara Kasavina, we are totes without words where this va va va voom amazingness is concerned. From the wide cut-outs of the tank top bodice to the mega structured skirt that cascades into a mulleted skirt down the back, this dress is not messing around. It is made for adorning a confident woman fully prepared to sideswipe everyone else off the dancefloor. We only wish we could see J-Lo doing just that. Instead, we’ll continue to see it in our head as we peruse Jonathan Van Meter’s insightful cover interview that includes details about Lopez’s next perfume, Glowing, which has a light-up bottle (ZOMG) and a ring she bought for herself that says “I Love Me” which, she tells the magazine, is not about being conceited but more about harnessing your inner confidence. “If you don’t love yourself, you can’t love anybody else.”
