It may seem like a regular week to some folks, but to the rest of us it’s the official kick-off of The Hunger Games! (Cue dresses that magically burst into flames, a chorus of whistles, and enough bows and arrows to start a post-apocalyptic renegade Cub Scout gang.) The film—based on the popular dystopian book trilogy—opens on March 23, but Monday’s mega gala premiere brought out the entire cast, not to mention hundreds of camped-out fans eager to catch a glimpse of their favorite characters from the series. Jennifer Lawrence, who plays lead character Katniss Everdeen (aka The Girl on Fire), did not disappoint as she set the black carpet ablaze in a stunning gold Prabal Gurung dress. Miley Cyrus arrived in a midriff-baring ensemble on the arm of boyfriend Liam Hemsworth, who plays Katniss’s oldest friend, Gale, and Leven Rambin made quite the entrance in a fiery red Chagoury Couture gown. All in all, it was a cornucopia (pun intended) of the best in Capitol couture.

Miley’s Emilio Pucci dress was dramatic, sophisticated, and totally fun. A black lace cutoff tank (leaving very little to the imagination up top…NICE TAN!) paired with a full matching skirt, seemed very relaxed California glam, and it worked beautifully with natural hair and smoky eyes. Her BF, Liam, looked equally relaxed yet sharp and elegant in a Dolce & Gabbana suit and told MTV News that he thought The Hunger Games was “an extremely powerful film.” Aside from how much more excited we are to see this movie, can we just emphasize that WOW, this is a gorgeous couple? Major kudos on their shared accessorizing with smiles, too.

Back to Miss Lawrence’s gold Prabal Gurung dress for a moment, though. You guys, WHOOOA. How insanely goddess-like does she look?! Not only was her hair wrapped with gold rope in an intricate low chignon concoction that we’re dying to emulate, her makeup was a triumph of sun-kissed beauty with a strong-eyed edge. We love everything about this, especially the cutouts, retro glamazon silhouette, and Jimmy Choo lace-up heels. She posed with Hemsworth and her other love triangle costar, Josh Hutcherson, who plays Peeta, amid a wall of crazed fan cheering. Even though she admits to being terrible at whistling, we couldn’t help but invoke the whistle of the Mockinjay on her behalf as we took it all in. The odds for this movie, we think, are forever in their favor. We just wish it would hurry up and get here.
