We so often applaud Lady Gaga for her fearless wielding of latex and all classes of body-baring outfits, but as the pop star revealed to a young women's conference in Los Angeles called "It's Our Turn," she was not always this comfortable in her own skin. When one attendee reached out to Gaga for advice when struggling with body issues, Mother Monster shared her story about battling bulimia. "I used to throw up all the time in high school. So I'm not that confident. I wanted to be a skinny little ballerina but I was a voluptuous little Italian girl whose dad had meatballs on the table every night," she revealed. She stopped in an effort to preserve her voice, as the stomach acid was damaging her vocal cords, but admitted, "Weight is still a struggle. Every video I'm in, every magazine cover, they stretch you, they make you perfect. It's not real life." Gaga ended with a few pearls of wisdom, calling out for the girl community to help themselves. "I'm gonna say this about girls: The dieting wars have got to stop. Everyone just knock it off. Because at the end of the day, it's affecting kids your age. And it's making girls sick."
