When you think about it, we're living in pretty spectacular times in terms of being able to buy designer clothing at affordable prices. With all of the capsule lines and designer-slash-department-store collaborations happening, pining for that runway look doesn't seem so soul-crushing. One of the leaders in designer diffusion lines is Macy's, and its Impulse collection. The department store has already paired with Karl Lagerfeld and Giambattista Valli, and the results were wearable, well-received, wallet-friendly, and very much in line with the designers' usual aesthetics. Macy's recently announced that the next Impulse designer will be Alberta Ferretti, who is known for her gorgeous dresses and feminine silhouettes. From what we've seen of the sketches thus far, these pieces are going to touch upon Ferretti's Italian roots, hint at the sunny Amalfi coast, and also probably cause a total fashion frenzy.

Hitting 185 Macy's stores and online on April 17, the line will feature everything from dresses in various lengths, lightweight pants, peasant blouses, and knitwear all with a modern, bohemian feeling. "The collection I created is fresh and bright, featuring light summer clothing that evokes the spirit of my beautiful country and is at the same time true to my style," Ferretti said. "Macy's numerous prestigious locations, as well as its important online presence, have been a unique and exciting opportunity for me to gift my 'Italian Dream' to a vast and diverse audience." One of the key pieces looks to be an orange chiffon maxi dress with a gathered, sarong-like waist and one-shoulder neckline. Figure-conscious, yet elegantly classic, we can see this dress on a variety of body types at garden soirees or summer weddings. We also like the idea of breezy cotton tops and azure blue trousers that can mix and match with any wardrobe. The line will include lots of light fabrics like chiffon, lace, voile, and jersey (all warm-weather friendly even though those days feel light-years away), and they'll all rest happily between the $49 to $119 range. Can you feel that warm Italian breeze already?
