It happens every year. Suddenly, out of nowhere, one of us here at MTV Style draws in a mammoth gasp and announces—usually via IM—that it’s ZOMG ALMOST FASHION WEEK, YOU GUYS. Headphones come off, brows are swept, hyperventilating sometimes ensues, and then we get back to work and file it in the back of our minds until the pre-fall collections start rolling in. Well, seeing as how pre-fall is happening, ohhhhh, NOW, and having looked at the calendar to see that NY Fashion Week is actually T-minus three weeks away, we’re starting to get super excited for the fash-enchantment heading our way. Usually, we merely whet our appetites on pre-fall and never let ourselves truly lose it until the actual full collection hits the runway, but all of that has just changed. Folks, we’re officially FREAKING OUT over Kenzo Pre-Fall 2012. Holy Mary Mother of BIG BIRD, this is the reason why we get all worked up about fashion! If this multilayered, pattern-splattered, gargantuan-proportioned, collar-happy, ACID YELLOW, creeper brogue-adorned collection is any indication of what Kenzo’s going to unveil for Fall 2012, we might as well pull out the fainting couch now and get it over with already. There’s so, SO much that we want from this collection!

As you know, Kenzo revamped its Parisian by way of Tokyo image in the form of American creative duo, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, the dynamo team behind Opening Ceremony. Their debut show for the house of Kenzo featured model Chloe Sevigny and was one of the most talked about shows at Paris Fashion Week. From the bold color combos to the models waving from windows upon entrance, we were smitten with the collection immediately. And now, just looking at the trifecta of pre-fall print-tasticness above makes our heart swell and wallets fatten.

This tan on brown latte fantasia of floral printed pants paired with a shrunken button-up jacket covered up in a giant patterned trench coat is a lotta look, but we love this cotillion of coffee colored craziness. The same goes for the aforementioned Big Bird ensemble above. Just look at this sunrise of awesome! That’s a double-tiered coat-cape hybrid with what appears to be brown bomber jacket arms (what the?!) layered over matching yellow floral separates, a two-tone barrel bag, and the sickest yellow and black platform creepers we’ve ever seen. Throw in this blue pajama patterned blouse and trousers combo with lace-up blue hiking boots and we’re officially swooned out. Oh, and since spring seems to be ushering in a lot more GREEN on the red carpet, we’re glad to see that it’s a color Kenzo might be choosing for fall, as well. Arrrrgh, we want it ALL.
