This just in: Kristen Stewart will be the new face of Balenciaga's women's fragrance for fall 2012, according to the brand's creative director Nicolas Ghesquière! The Twilight star will front the yet-to-be-named scent and said, "I love Balenciaga fashion because it is incredibly bold and forceful, yet feminine and sexy. I found there was a real creative freedom about this project. I feel blessed and really proud of being the face of this new fragrance." We are SO stoked for this campaign because K Stew is totally high-fashion vixen meets tomboy rocker, which will be absolutely perfect for the new scent. Kristen shared even more sentiments about the upcoming project with WWD and said, "Balenciaga has always stood out to me. Even when I first began to consider fashion and admittedly rarely knew the brand I was wearing, I always recognized and loved Balenciaga. It feels full circle to be involved with something that spoke to me then and of course continues to excite me now. The brand is just cool. That's the way it is. I feel drawn to it. It provokes on a number of levels. It isn't afraid or contrived. It hits a very cool balance, always. Always pretty undeniable."
K Stew follows in the steps of former Balenciaga face Charlotte Gainsbourg, who has represented the first fragrance since 2010. If Kristen's campaign is anything like Charlotte's, we should expect tons of soft, alluring close-ups of K Stew wearing barely there makeup and lots of au naturel, not-too-over-the-top modeling shots. Does this whole thing scream "Bella Swan" or WHAT? Nicolas said he picked his new muse because she "embodies the modernity of the new Balenciaga fragrance with her unique sensibility and intelligence." I'll say!
