Holy Panem! Have you guys seen the new Capitol Couture Tumblr page? This clever bit of marketing for The Hunger Games seems to suggest that we’re in for some truly stellar costume amazingness imminently. Yep, it’s alllll starting to happen. The film (based on the book, which is AWESOME) is set to be released on March 23, and the fine folks at Lionsgate seem to drumming up excitement by not only debuting this new photo of Elizabeth Banks in costume as style nugget Effie Trinket but also with a possible online fashion magazine devoted to the fanciful creations the people of Panem wear in the film. If this new image is anything to go by, we’re in store for some insane color combos, satin, Chinoiserie, blue lips, and ridiculous post-apocalyptic frippery the likes of which we’ve never seen before.

In The Hunger Games, lead character Katniss (played by Jennifer Lawrence who, we might add, looked sensational in Viktor & Rolf at the 2012 People’s Choice Awards) must fight for her life in a reality show-like game devised by a tyrannical government to pit kids against each other in a way that’s part Gladiator, part Lord of the Flies. Effie Trinket is a sort of handler for Katniss, and because she lives in the Capitol City—which is all about fancy-fance clothing, hair, and makeup—she dresses in an overtly “fashionable” way (which means, per this photo, in an off-the-shoulder pale pink floral frock with shoulder ruching, burnt yellow underpinnings, a matching yellow hairpiece, bright pink eyes and cheeks, blue lips, and an affixed mole that looks to be made of either silver or platinum). According to this new Tumblr site, if we’re a “Capitol fashionista or a style-crazed District citizen, there’s only one place to turn for all the tips, tricks, and trends you need to look your best,” and we’re assuming this place is an online magazine called Capitol Couture because the site says it will notify you when “Issue #1 launches.”

You guys, THIS IS CRAY. We have uncontrollable chillbumps and are BEYOND EXCITED at what’s going to roll out next! What does this all mean?? We have no idea, but you should sign up immediately. Shhhhh, the password is #lookyourbest. Eeep!
