Alexa Chung (Mysteriously) Wears Marc Jacobs Spring 2012 On ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’

Alexa Chung was on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night to engage in some football bowling as well as chat about her new fashion reality series, 24 Hour Catwalk, which premieres Jan. 10. As she sipped beer with Jimmy Fallon (while also solidly slaying him in the football bowling arena), we found ourselves eyeing her silver dress wondering if we’d seen it somewhere before. The cut was vaguely sixties, the silhouette more of a coat than a dress, and the overall look tipped out in matching, pointy-toed silver heels wormed its way deep into our psyches, triggering blinking red lights, repetitive gong noises, and an image of a model sashaying down a wooden catwalk under the intense spotlights (and scrutiny) befitting a fashion week runway show. Could this coat slash dress be from the spring 2012 Marc Jacobs collection? The very same collection that was reported STOLEN from a train in Paris in November?!

The answer is yes! Now, we know Miss Chung was not the masked bandit who mysteriously squired away an entire collection in her Mulberry bag while casually exiting the caboose of a Parisian train (namely because that’s a ridiculous notion—even though Mulberry bags are quite roomy inside—and also because she’s a lovely young lady who would normally, as befitting a television and style personality, receive these garments for free), but HOW did this gorge silver coat-dress with flotillas of floral shapes, a prominent collar, silky side pockets, and strategic beading come upon her person? Zut alors, we have no clue! But she paired it brizilliantly with black opaque tights and Marc Jacobs shoes from the same (stolen?) collection, and we like the idea of wearing a jacket as a dress in winter with warm tights.

We still have questions, though. Was the stolen MJ collection found or were the pieces re-created? Also, are you excited to see Alexa’s new show? From what we’ve seen so far (namely snakes and sleep-deprived craybees) it looks ZHAMAZE. Alexa told Jimmy, “It’s really intense…I realized it also involved me being awake for 24 hours. I’m the punk who has to go in and tell them what to do.” Challenges that involve creating an entire collection in 24 hours? Tired, sassy fashion designers that undoubtedly lose it at the last minute? Punks with enviable fringe haircuts in possibly stolen, possibly not, yet still completely stylish Marc Jacobs threads telling fraying tempers what to do at 4 a.m.? Sign us up!
