When Katy Perry released her tear-filled "The One That Got Away" music video last month, we dived into EVERY look from the video. From her punk-rock inspired ensembles to her 80-year-old fashion game, no corner of her video was left unturned. But honestly, after all was said and done, we were still left with soooo many fash-related questions. How did they age Katy in SUCH a real way? How long did it take? What inspired Katy and Diego Luna's vintage ensembles? Who was the stylist? WHY CAN'T WE LOOK LIKE KATY? OK, that last one is more of a general question, but we are 100 percent serious about all the rest. Luckily, MTV took some behind-the-scenes footage while making the video and answered ALL of our questions!

First up: Diego and Katy's Almost Famous '70s hippie meets '80s punk rocker leather and striped ensembles. Stylist Johnny Wujek created these looks, which he called "edgy" and "dirty" in comparison to Katy's designer, richer, older self. Katy said her biggest inspiration for these outfits was "Patti Smith and a little bit of Chrissie Hynde." But if you're thinking this is almost EXACTLY what KP looked like a few years ago, you're not crazy—Ms. Perry also said she was channeling herself from 2007.

For the more dramatic scenes in "The One That Got Away," Katy used fake tears made out of glycerin mixed in with her own. In one part she points to her nose and says, "This is real snot." Talk about COMMITMENT.

On day two of shooting, Katy was in the makeup chair starting at 4:30 in the morning (YIPES) to get transformed into a woman almost twice her age. Special effects hair and makeup artist Dominie Till said of the process, "Not so much tedious but difficult is the initial concept as far as the casting of Katy's face and then sculpting.... It involves so many people as far as mold-making, art direction—it's the running of the pieces. We have so many stages to get through with these delicate jelly-looking-like pieces that then get glued onto Katy's face."

And hours later...VOILA! She looks like this! A very real version of Katy's older self. Pretty convincing, eh? The fashion and makeup was just the BEGINNING of all the fun stuff that happened behind the scenes, though. Check out the full making-of video below!
