Would You Wear Fergie, Abigail Breslin, Or Lea Michele’s ‘New Year’s Eve’ Dress On New Year’s Eve?

We’re officially in the whirlwind that is The Holiday Season™. If you’re anything like us, before we finish our candy canes or sip that last drop of eggnog, we inevitably wake up and realize it’s practically New Year’s Eve and—OMG—we have nothing to wear. Luckily, this year we have the filmNew Year’s Eve to help us get in the spirit early. Not only does it encapsulate several different NYE scenarios, it’s opening early enough to inspire us to be prepared this year, and we can start by taking cues from the dresses worn to the film’s red carpet premiere. We thought Fergie, Abigail Breslin, and Lea Michele brought their best sparkle-power with three very different NYE dresses guaranteed to wow at any party. Problem is, from the short and bodycon to the fuller and longer, we can’t decide which silhouette we’d rather wear. Also, what will our dude look like? Well, that’s easy, something akin to either Darren Criss, Zac Efron, or Harry Shum Jr., of course.

Fergie hit the red carpet in a lustrous new blonde hairdo that cascaded down her bare yet tan décolletage, which was pumped to perfection courtesy of her extremely body-hugging Monique Lhuillier dress. This silvery sheath is from the resort collection and is va-va-va-voom while also remaining classy. We think it’s perfect for a more upscale party, especially when paired with retro Hollywood hair, red lips, and a pair of peep-toe platform heels like these Louboutins. Miss Breslin sassed up her look with a full and fun white Marchesa dress, with a lightly contouring bodice and modern crinoline-style skirt with a chiffon overlay. This dress is bold and feminine, and the most wow of the three choices given its unusual shape. Lea’s classic Valentino gown is glittery, gold, and cut WAY low, which means most of the wow factor comes from the amount of bazoombage you will have on display. All in all, each of these looks are GORGE and represent three very different ways to ring in the New Year. Oh, and what about a date?

If you have one already or are flying solo, we think these dudes have the NYE look on LOCK. Darren Criss is adorable. You know it, we know it, but how long is it going to take for the rest of the world to know it? (Geez.) Darren’s charcoal suit is a tight fit—in the best way—and is a more relaxed version of dressing up. He has chosen to eliminate the tie yet opts for a pocket square to keep the sartorial splendor. Darren is clean, modern, and perfect—period. Oh, hiiiiii, Zac Efron. There’s really not much to say about you and your silver three-piece suit tipped out in matching tie and white pocket square other than yes, YES, and also yes. Well done, sir! Finally, we have Glee’s Harry Shrum Jr., who is rocking out the epitome of chilled out New Year’s Eve man garb. This is exactly what every dude should wear to a house party. Class it up in the sweater, tie, and blazer; chill it out in jeans. Also, please remember to stand directly under the mistletoe.
