Do you smell that? Those notes of celebratory effervescence, salty tears of joy, and the unmistakable scent of heavy metals? It’s the subtle trace of “awards show season” wafting through the air, bubbling up our anticipation of the glittering red carpet parades to come after the new year. Last night’s ceremonious Grammy Nominations Concert Live may have just been a prelude to February’s actual Grammy Awards, but it has sufficiently whet our appetites for all the ensembles set to hit the step-repeat in just over a month. Chief among the night’s stylish stars were Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, and Bruno Mars, all of whom ALSO cleaned up with big-ticket nominations.

A slight departure from her usual show-stopping outfits (*achem* VMA candy raver, anyone?), Nicki (who BTW is up for Best New Artist) opted to keep things simple, or you know, simple for her, in a solid strapless bodycon with the most BANANAS flattering structured boning. I can haz hourglass figures? *eyes bugging* Paired alongside her light pink-to-blonde ombre locks, the robin’s egg blue hue of her frock made for a delicious cotton candy color palette. Also, note the attention to detail with the PERFECTLY matching colorblocked pumps. #dedication

Katy was honored with a nod for Record of the Year with her anthemic “Firework.” Keeping with the pink that worked so well for her at this year’s AMAs, she wore a sweet but not saccharine Dolce & Gabbana lace column gown. Like Minaj, Perry went strapless for the night, too, highlighting her delicate clavicle between a pair of BLADOW iced drop earrings and the dress’s draped sweetheart neckline.

Bruno Mars raked in a whopping six nominations, including Album, Record, and Song of the Year. Style-wise, he turned it out for the dudes in a leather moto + plaid shirt combo and kept the bottom streamlined. Buttoning his shirt all the way to the tippy top, Bruno kept the look fresh and on-trend, and capped things off with his signature fedora and lady-killer smile.
