This year's American Music Awards were all about amped up GLAMour, and if there was one artiste who brought the fashion both to the stage and the red carpet it was multiple AMA awards winner Nicki Minaj. Miss "Super Bass" opened the awards show with a mega mix of that very song, which began with "Turn Me On" and saw her emerge from the darkness as a sort of android princess to, literally, turn herself "on" in Small Wonder fashion by plugging a cord into a socket attached to her stomach. Not only did her pink tendrils seem electrified, so did her, ahem, bootay, which displayed speakers on each cheek—not to be outdone by the volume dials on her lady bazooms, of course—and the entire outfit seemed to suggest that Nicki M was, in actuality, SUPER BASS. She danced around the stage easily in silver high-top sneakers that matched the silver body suit and panels over her jeans. Oh, and her microphone? PINK, obvs, most likely in homage to her Best Rap/Hip-Hop winning album, Pink Friday.
Let's talk about her Oscar de la Renta red carpet moment for a sec, though. Y'all, not to start some wild pun-off or anything, but she seriously dialed it UP with this spring 2012 runway look accented in matching pink lips and hair. We've already decreed it one of our top 10 2011 AMA looks of the night and are still fawning over the stupendous black and metal-heeled Alexander McQueen platforms she maneuvered so effortlessly. It was a somewhat tamer look for our candy raver queen. We're surprised this bold green skirt seems to go along with the pinkness of her upper half, but it does seem to work with the black lace bodice and choker breaking it all up in between. And speaking of the green skirt, what a wonderful hat tip to Kermit and The Muppets!
