We have to say we're kinda GLAD it's getting colder out so we can mix up our fabrics a little more these days. Luckily, since the '90s fashion comeback is in full swing, velvet is making quite the reappearance. From dresses to pants to shirts, we're seeing the soft stuff everywhere, and we can't get enough. We didddd kinda notice something while scouring the web for our favorite velvet looks, though. Oftentimes black velvet can end up looking really heavy and really, um, goth. LISTEN, we're not anti-goth at all (we wear black basically every day... like every other New Yorker), but this season's trends (maxis, skulls, crosses, dark lipstick) paired with lots of black can look a bit scary. Instead, we picked three takes on velvet that add a little bit of color to your ensemble. Peep the deets below!

Autilia Antonucci of Autilia's Blog

Australian cutie Autilia is just that... cute! Scrolling through her blog is such a treat because she's constantly switching up her look from delicate and sweet to edgy and chic. For her velvet ensemble, she wore a knotted vintage velvet floral lace top, mustard Material Attention high-to-low skirt, white ankle socks, Rubi lace-up beige booties, Topshop gold hexagon clutch, and 80s Purple cat eye sunglasses.

Aurora L. of Aurora Loveless

We love 18-year-old fashion blogger Aurora's simply chic crushed velvet ensemble! She wore an oversized white button-up shirt under a black H&M knit sweater paired with burgundy velvet leggings and THE most amazing H&M creepers! We love how such a simple idea (sweater and leggings) can look so stylish when you play with colors and materials. Plus, those creepers are genius!

Dani Roche of Dani At Kastor And Pollux

Blog: Twitter: @daniesque.

When we first spotted Dani, we couldn't stop staring at her GORGEOUS purple ombre hair! It's perfect paired with her studded leather Zara jacket, Topshop navy blue velvet Peter Pan collar dress, sheer black tights, Isabel Marant ankle boots, plaid backpack, and vintage knotted headscarf. She added a little pop of red at her fingertips and lips for a completely cop-worthy ensemble.
