Not that we’re surprised by this, but it seems the world is just as obsessed with Dakota Fanning and Elle Fanning as we are here at MTV Style. In fact, we’d like to officially deem them THE FABULOUS FANNING SISTERS (FFS) because they are ferociously fantastic in so many ways (including being astoundingly alliterative sentence subjects). Aside from their precocious acting chops and stellar red carpet style moments, the sisters have recently fronted both perfume and clothing line campaigns for Marc Jacobs and have landed themselves on the December cover of W magazine. Looking almost like twins with their gigantic blue doe eyes staring into your soul from the cover, the gals wear similar Valentino Haute Couture gold lace gowns, pink lips, and cascading platinum blonde hair for a holiday look that’s all about sophisticated glam. And in terms of haute couture sparkle-wear, this is just the beginning, folks…

Shot by Mario Sorrenti and styled by Lori Goldstein, we’re LOVING these two Chanel Haute Couture looks, which are very Eliza Doolittle cockney mixed with a bit of downtown insouciance with the addition of black lace gloves. Both of these looks can be easily re-created too, with black and white separates or a black strapless cocktail dress. It’s all about the hats, gloves, and layering of necklaces on a neutral outfit that is an edgier take on holiday party wear. Elle has a thing for Chanel. She tells W magazine, “When I found out that I was invited to the Chanel show—that was the loudest I’ve ever screamed in my life. That was the best day of my life.” She goes on to say, “It was my first fashion show, and I know every model by name. I go on Style.com and look at all the shows.” Sigh, she’s just like us!

The FFS look like they’re playing dress-up in Dior Haute Couture. Strangely enough, Elle looks like the older sis in this shot due to her height, but it’s Dakota’s doll-like expression that makes her appear much younger than her college-aged years. Also, GORGEOUS much, ladies? Dakota’s Tiffany & Co. cameo diamond ring is a beauty. Cocktails rings and red lipstick are perfect ways to spruce up a lighter colored dress.

Why, hello there, perfect silver sequined Rodarte dress! It looks like Elle is enjoying this Rodarte dress as much as we are (she attended their Spring 2012 New York Fashion Week show, too). This magical cyber princess number is embroidered to the HILT and covered in Swarovski Elements. Again, it’s all about the gloves adding a subtle dash of rocked-out whimsy to the ensemble. These are vintage Helen Uffner lace fingerless gloves, for the record, but you can make your own from a store-bought version too.

THE EYES!!!! Aren’t they incredible? This is a fine example of perfect holiday makeup right here. Play up your eyes with a smoky shadow, black liner on both lids and the inner rim, and finish it off with a healthy slick of mascara. All you need with this is a peachy blush and pale gloss. If you’re wearing a dramatic dress like these Giambattista Valli ones, simple hair (a low bun or high chignon) and makeup are key.

SWOON. This silk, lace, and wispy tulle gown by Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci is fit for a ballerina princess. Even though Elle is the ballerina in the family, we think Dakota looks like an absolute dream in this flowery confection. We also love the loose, natural hair with the elegance of the halter neckline and an elegantly wary expression that says, “Yes, I know it’s the holidays, and I know I should probably cover my shoulders in this chilly weather, but I’m channeling the rites of spring and paying homage to Shakespeare’s A Midsummer’s Night Dream, thank you very much. Please pass the mashed potatoes.”
