Nikki Reed and Jackson Rathbone at a “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” premiere event in Rome.
We’ll admit it’s kind of a wedding-esque day, what with some marriages dissolving and others barely igniting. Perhaps we have weddings and wedding dresses on the brain, but when we first saw Nikki Reed and Jackson Rathbone supporting The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn—Part 1 in Italy, we couldn’t get over how fantastic they looked together—and how delicious they’d look atop a five-tiered wedding cake with buttercream frosting, a delicate lemon filling, and a chantilly lace overlay. Don’t they just GLOW in that pic (sparkle even)? Now, we know they play vampire brother and sister in the Twilight Saga, and we know that Nikki recently married Paul McDonald of American Idol Season 10 fame, but we couldn’t get over the perfection of this red carpet pairing.
Nikki’s plunging V-neck gown is by Romanian designer Maria Lucia Hohan, who incidentally designs bridal wear (which perhaps explains the slight train). While it appears as if the dress is taped strategically, there’s actually a bit of nude netting all the way up to the neck and under the arms that is nearly undetectable. (That’s keeping it classy, folks.) We love the simplicity of her hair and makeup, but kind of wish she’d been photographed from the other side so we could get a peek at her real wedding ring as well as the wisps of fabric draping down her back. Still, she tipped it out accordingly with Jimmy Choos and an (unseen) clutch by Salvatore Ferragamo (*hat tip* to Italia). Mr. Rathbone is looking all kinds of fine and dandy in this vintage-inspired three-piece suit complete with pocket watch and but-I’m-a-musician boots. It’s nice to see a gentleman rocking the retro and doing it well. If you squint your eyes and pretend they’re not “related” onscreen (not by blood, heh), and you forget that Nikki’s already married to a super nice guy, wouldn’t these two make perfect models for a perfectly gigantic wedding cake? Maybe in a red velvet flavor?
