The Lazy Girl’s Guide To Super Easy Halloween Costumes

It’s almost Halloween. You realize this, right? Sigh, we do, too, but sometimes we’re at a TOTAL loss as to what to be or completely devoid of time (and ambition) to put something together that is awesome and/or clever while also being affordable. Yeah, sure, we’d love to whip up an Edward Scissorhands ensemble or recreate Zombie Boy’s tat face, but really, who has the time for that? We don’t really feel like lifting more than, say, an index finger to tap upon a webshop’s BUY button. Thus, we’re jazzed about the new Urban Outfitters “Halloween Shop” offering all kinds of cute costume ideas. We’ve gone to the trouble of choosing our faves, even rating them from 1 – 5 on the LAZY SCALE (1 being sorta lazy and 5 being full-on laze sloth), so scroll on through and thank us in your head, OK?

Embarrassing Photo Protective Sunglasses ($12) = LAZY SCALE 3
FULL DISCLOSURE: We’re probs gonna buy these and wear them with something gloriously heinous to be the one true Fashion Don’t Girl at the party. We’re envisioning acid wash mom jeans paired with a kitten sweater, puff paint vest, and vintage Reebok’s. We’re going to give this item a 3 on the LAZY SCALE because, while you could just pair them with any outfit (making them a 5), they work better when you wear them with something ridiculous, which requires some work.

Plastic Wolf Mask ($8) = LAZY SCALE 5
This is easy. Put on clothes, put on your wolf mask, DONEZO. When people ask, tell them you’re Teen Wolf, Team Jacob, or “duh, a wolf.”

UO Owl Buddy & Truly Madly Deeply Pocket Skeletee Tee from Urban Outfitters.

UO Owl Buddy ($89) = LAZY SCALE 4
Look at this cute owl! You guys it’s an owl costume AND a snuggie in ONE! Throw it over whatever and GO. Your hair can be messy but your shoes need to be cute, so it loses one point for shoe effort.

Truly Madly Deeply Pocket Skeletee Tee ($28) = LAZY SCALE 2
Yes, this is a skeleton tee that implies you’re a skeleton, but it needs work. It must be paired with a kicky leather skirt or black jeans, and it loses lazy points for having to add tights, heels, and possibly the makeup to Hallo is OUT. But you know what? You can buy this for less than 30 bones and wear it all year.

Burton Trope Beanie & BDG Striped V-Neck Tee from Urban Outfitters.

Burton Trope Beanie ($29) & BDG Striped V-Neck Tee ($18) = LAZY SCALE 3
We say it scores a 3 on the LAZY SCALE because while you can wear this tee and beanie with a simple pair of jeans, you’ll have to run around all night trying to photobomb people’s pics. Still, a fun and comfortable choice.

Sexy Leopard Dress & Girl Scout Costume Tees from Urban Outfitters.

Sexy Leopard Dress Costume Tee ($39) = LAZY SCALE 1
This is Snooki right? It TOTALLY IS. To really make this work, you’ll need to tease your hair, add a satin hair bow, get a spray tan, then put together bedazzled sunglasses, bedazzled nails, sparkle platforms, and spritz on some Eau d’Meatball. While we adore the idea and appreciate Urban saving us from having to wear a real hoochie dress, it requires heavy accessory lifting and, thus, barely even rates on the LAZY SCALE.

Girl Scout Costume Tee ($39) = LAZY GIRL SCALE 3
We love this Girl Scout costume! ADORBZ. And yet, we think to make this simple tee dress pop, you’ll need to put your hair in pigtails and carry around a box of cookies all night. Not too much work, but still COOKIES. People will be coming up to you all night asking for Thin Mints.
