Katy Perry Channels Roaring ’20s, Fierceness In New GHD Ads Shot By David LaChapelle

Katy Perry is a MASTER at defining decades just by her ’do—take a peek at last season’s campaign for British hair care company GHD! She channeled ’80s new wave, ’40s glam, and ’60s boho chic style flawlessly thanks to GHD’s styling products and talented mega-photographer David LaChapelle. This time, the fierce hair and the photog are the same, but the decade is very different. Ms. Perry went wayyy back to the roaring ’20s to tell the story of a once-innocent flapper girl turned dark by the bite of a poison apple. Yowza!

In her first look, Katy glows in a low-cut peach fringe flapper dress, layers upon layers of beads, a feather boa, and peep-toe pumps while hanging out on a fire escape with some birds (one is perched on her hand…NBD). Her makeup is fiery and warm—berry red lips with deep pink rouge and sultry purplish-red smoky eyes, while her hair is in a PHENOM finger-waved ’20s bob.

Once Katy turns over to the dark side, she looks vampy chic in a leggy black sweetheart bustier cap-sleeved dress, fingerless black gloves, lacy thigh-high stockings, a diamond jewel collar, and HELLA AMAZING black and red skeleton platform pumps. Her hair is rolled into perfectly tight ’20s-style waves and her dark palette makeup is compiled of blackish-burgundy lipstick, silver lids, and sharply lined eyebrows. To be honest, we kind of like Katy as a goth girl. We can’t resist a skintight dress, dark lips, and to-die-for heels all paired together—ESPECIALLY on Katy.
