Sheer Sheaths Dominate Christian Dior Runway And Front Row, Karlie Kloss's Dress Bares Her Behind

If there's one thing we love about spring season fashion shows, it's the welcoming of light, airy, free-flowing fabrics after a long season of thick sweaters and heavy coats. At Christian Dior's spring 2012 show, soft pastel hues dominated the runway, but a particular look was reoccurring theme—sheer! From short shifts to long gowns, there wasn't a place that Dior didn't plant a touch of the see-through fabric. Our favorite sheer looks were on the floor-length dresses—the movement the light layers created was INCREDIBLE, and it was a subtle way to show off some serious leg. But, even amidst the gorgeous ensembles, sometimes there were places the whole sheer shebang got a little out of hand. See: Karlie Kloss (top left) in her long sleeve black lace dress. There's a stripe of black along the front and VERY light nude fabric on the bottom portion of the gown, so if you were wondering, "Well, what happens when she turns around?" it's EXACTLY what you think would happen—her bum is on full display. Also, this was the closing look. YEP.

But not all sheer ensembles needed to be over-the-top—check out Dior front row ladies Carine Roitfeld, Olivia Palermo, and Leigh Lezark. They managed to WERK their black sheerness in every (gorgeous) way possible. Former French Vogue Editor-in-Chief Carine wore a 3/4 sleeve slip over a plain black tank dress. The City's Olivia Palermo sported an incredible floor-length sheer collared dress, and The Misshapes' Leigh Lezark looked soft and sweet in a short black and nude lace shift.
