Before the third syllable can drop at first mention that Rachel Zoe is presenting a new collection at New York Fashion Week, you just know there's no way you're going to be disappointed. The celebrity stylist/reality TV star/designer has made a career out of her incredible knack for knowing what people want, and with a celeb clientele so diversely fabulous, there's almost an unspoken guarantee set in place that, no matter your personal style, there WILL be at least one thing in this collection to which you gravitate.

We hit up Zoe's midtown Spring 2012 presentation this afternoon, and not even two sips into our cucumber aloe drink (sidenote: I know. So swanky, right? *hair flip*) were we totally duh-ROOL-ing over what our eyes beheld before us: strong shouldered blazers, ladylike satchels, and more maxi dresses than days of the week (if you're keeping track, for a 30-look collection, that means, like, ONE THIRD of this whole thang was maxis—YOWZA). But you do what you know, right?

The presentation moved from bright whites in breezy and streamlined fabrics alongside shimmering dresses covered in sequins to rich browns and olives with dashes of buttery terracotta leather. A section of bold jewel-toned separates (and one cobalt jumpsuit that went DIRECTLY to my wish list *achem* friends, family, and acquaintances take note!) lead into a row of blacks in all different textures: ruffles and canvas and lace (oh my!). Then, as if the whole row, which snaked throughout the room, were some magical fashion pot of gold, there, alongside longtime client Molly Sims, was THE Rachel Zoe waiting at the end, posing for pictures and, might I add, looking infinitely more taut and dewy and personable than I ever would as the mother of a 6-month-old who just put out a collection for New York Fashion Week. That's where the Celtic analogies end, though—no green buckled top hats, no jigging, no shamrocks, though the light fixtures were lined with some indeterminate greenery... #justsayin
