We caught up with designer Asher Levine TWICE during fashion week (call us incredibly lucky)—the first time to talk about his exclusive Asher X Nicola collab at Nicola Formichetti's pop-up store in Soho and AGAIN after the much-anticipated spring 2012 menswear show. And whewww, boy! Asher DELIVERED. His mostly black, gray, and dark purple line reflected his inspiration, which he called an "infection in New York City." (Let's just say his invite was "Asher Levine" etched into an alien claw inside a biohazard bag.) His pieces ranged from raw hemmed mesh pants to exposed zipper jumpsuits with veiny Katy Perry "E.T."-esque makeup to create his own "alternate universe."

Some of our favorite looks included the jumpsuits because, really, menswear NEEDS more jumpsuits. Like, a lot more. This double zip ensemble on the left looks lab-chic paired with super high lace-up Dr. Martens and is actually really wearable. The middle jacket with layers upon layers of handiwork just straight-up deserves a slow clap. Seeing that jacket in real life is unbelievable, and YEAH, you can't wear it on the subway without seriously injuring someone, but it looks killer (heh). We love the structured shoulders on the zip-up blazer on the right—so much, in fact, we literally said, "I'd buy that," to our producer when we saw it on the runway (Psst! Asher told us that he's most definitely coming out with a womenswear line in the future too!). After the show we caught up with the man himself to talk even MORE about his Spring 2012 collection! See what Asher had to say below.
