I just got home from my first ever New York show and I can’t think of anyone else I’d like to have given my Fashion Week V-Card to other than New York-based designers, Timo Weiland. Now, let me explain the plural. So, yes, Timo Weiland is a real-life person but the kiiiinda eponymous line is comprised of Timo AND his designer partner Alan Eckstein. ANYWAY, I was anxious when I finally got to The Studio at Lincoln Center, but shortly after checking in I discovered my seat had been upgraded to the second row, which, let me tell you, does a lot to calm the nerves…

Onward! OK, FOR ALL THE LADIES IN THE PLACE WHO GOT REAL HAIR, REAL FINGER NAILS (*Fat Man Scoop voice*)…here are my favorites. I’m a sucker for a onesie, so as soon as I saw homegirl step out the gate in a loooow, scoop-necked, short-short overalls situation I knew it’d be a top choice. Not to mention I’m loving the extra-long neon flower necklace by Subversive for a bit of BOOM in your otherwise tame color palette. The two-piece floral teal look was similarly a crowd-pleaser, as it had everyone on the edge of their seats trying to snap pics on their Berrys.

The music was fantastic (Shazammed as “Do It Clean” by Echo and the Bunnymen), and I was amazed at how the offerings integrated similar patterns, colors, and shapes into clothing for both genders. The collection was remarkably cohesive, the looks were exciting, and the silhouettes were refreshing. And let me just say, “Black dress socks with shorts”…it’s happening.

From the men’s collection, I’m loving the khaki green, orange, and yellow, sprinkled with a little navy floral print. It’s much easier to get away with floral if it’s applied with discretion, like a shirt tied around your waist or worn under a jacket. Granted, the mustard peacoat is anything but subtle, but if you’re gonna get caught in the rain, you may as well do it in a vibrant statement piece. I LOVE long sleeves with shorts, and the cuffed, knee-length joints in orange paired with the navy anorak is a stylish yet simple look to pull off. I could see myself wearing any of these.

As for off the runway? I spied bad-boy figure skater and fashion icon Johnny Weir in red Timo bell bottoms that he tweeted about before he arrived AND he was nice enough to snap a pic! There was also celebrity stylist Mr. Brad Goreski in a pale pink double-breasted blazer and some black studded Chrissy Lous. Other front row honorees include Thomas Jane from Hung and Deep Blue Sea, blonde bombshell Kaitlin Doubleday from Catch Me If You Can, and Ms. Ann Dexter-Jones, mother to the Ronsons.

More trends I peeped in the crowds? Bow ties, color-saturated pants (mostly red like Johnny’s), and an alarming display of man cleavage. Sternum is huge this fall, and I felt like a suffocating prude all covered up in my crew neck.
