If there was anyone who held a gigantic fashion beacon of light at the Venice Film Festival, it had to be Evan Rachel Wood, who made quite the statement by choosing to wear nothing but black and white. Looking like a cross between a classic film star and a French New Wave starlet, she evoked a sense of modern glamour every time she stepped onto the red carpet. She also kept the trend going during the day, going so far as to kick out a suit with matching-hued houndstooth pumps. How many young Hollywood stars wear the exact same colors appearance after appearance yet manage to keep each look exciting? Not many, people! It's a BOLD choice for sure (even a cheeky one when you think about it), but much like her penchant for eye-raising paramours (hi, Marilyn Manson, who's probably totally reading this right now), we think Evan Rachel Wood's style is both dramatic and inspirational. Also? We can mimic it on a modest budget.

For night, Miss Wood chose designer Alessandra Rich for both her long, white Ides of March dress (very old-school classic) and for her fitted black Mildred Pierce column dress (both STUN-NING and retro vintage-y). She also championed the menswear trend—which is HUGE for fall—with a black and white Dolce & Gabbana suit that she wore to a photo call at a café. (This isn't how we look when we go to a coffee shop, but, hey, to each their own!) Can we just talk about Evan's hair for a sec? In the sea of ingenue pixies this summer, this particular cut is becoming our fave. Not only is it malleable (she can wear it slicked to the side, tousled, or lightly waved), it looks both fresh and modern.

Honestly, we love that E.R.W. (ER-Dubbs? Evan Rach? EvR Wood?) kept up the black and white charades with her more casual wear, as well. She chose a sleeveless Gucci jumpsuit (probably more of an evening look but it works for a fancy lunch, too) for the Gucci Women in Cinema event and two different black pants with white shirt combos. For one of the two, she paired the B&W basics with a subdued black Dolce & Gabbana vest that was actually covered in leopard print on the back (fall trend alert!), and with her other black pant ensemble she chose a white blouse adorned with the also on-trend black necktie, which you can make yourself with a ribbon after a trip to the craft store. All of these looks can certainly be tricked out with colorful accessories like a bright heel or printed bag, too. But what we like most of all is that black and white can be found at any store, in any shape or style, and at any price point. Make it your own!
