While we certainly can't speak for the rest of you, right now as New York experiences its first cool breezes since early June (also earthquakes?), it's becoming all too real that we're holding on to summertime by the skin of our teeth. It's time to bust out the transitional outfits that bring romper and blazer together for a few weeks and re-teach our sun-soaked shoulders about... what are they called again? You know, those soft things with sleeves? Oh, right, SWEATERS. Let your feet in on the trans-action (unintended/semi-irrelevant pun alert!) by switching out your go-to sandals for some low-cut boots like singer Wynter Gordon, actress Aubrey Plaza, and UK television personality Caroline Flack.

Wynter Gordon un-summers her graphic crop top and saturated high-waisted cut-offs with a pair of silver metallic Marc Jacobs boots - part cowboy, part space alien (possibly inspired by her own incredz cover of Katy Perry's 'E.T.'??), all appropriately balanced and so very pretty-feeling on our sight-organs. Personal style a little more subdued than Miss Gordon's? Follow in the fashionable footsteps of Aubrey Plaza who threw a linen blazer over a floral dress and paired it all with an adorable set of gray ankle boots. Stylish, weather-appropriate, and 100% wearable!

You can even easily employ this proportions philosophy whilst raiding the night by using Caroline Flack's red carpet outfit as a model - balance out a short hemline with floaty sleeves and a pair of heeled ankle-grazing boots (extra points if you rock them in a bold print like these "Activate" platform booties from Topshop).
