Hillsie fashion designer/columnist/author/style guru/world leader Lauren Conrad is no stranger to diving head-first into beauty trends (see: dip-dyed hair, ombre nails). I mean, she DOES run an entire website called TheBeautyDepartment.com, where she gives makeup advice, hair tutorials, and even shares her own personal fashion adventures. Her latest endeavor? Mix-and-match nails! Lauren says she was tipped off to this nail trend by the current pattern-clashing happening on the runway and is "thrilled" it's finally making it's way into the beauty world. LC says she's been incorporating mixed prints in her wardrobe for quite some time now and couldn't WAIT to get her hands (heh) on this mismatched nail art. So, how do you think Ms. Conrad measured up? Let's find out!
Um, LC nailed it! On the top, we see LC's inspiration nails, a combination of teal and white stripes, teal with gold glitter, teal with pink flowers, and coral pink with silver glitter. Lauren did her own take on the trend and instead of using glitter, decided to go with polka dots! Her nails consisted of sparkly silver and teal dots, sky blue and beige floral, teal with sky blue dots, and beige with silver strips. Too cute! To try this trend yourself, follow LC's tips below.
LAUREN'S MIX-AND-MATCH NAIL TREND TIPS:
Incorporate both neutral prints (polka dots, stripes) and bolder prints (florals, leopard print).
Keep nails all within the same color story.
Try mixing it up by adding glitter or a pop color on one or two nails.
You can also achieve this look by mixing different printed nail strips if you're too nervous to try painting nail patterns yourself.
