Vincent Gallo in G-Star RAW’s Autumn/Winter 2011 campaign.

Despite the fact that indie filmmaker Vincent Gallo kind of REALLY scares the crapola out of us, we still think he’s hot. Like, he can turn up to a black tie event in crusty 3-week-old jeans, a smoky leather jacket, and unwashed hair and still look better than 90 percent of the people there. Though a lot of people can’t STAND him for that (they’re jealous, obvi), he’s been a pioneer of hip New York style for years now—I mean, he was even Jean-Michel Basquiat’s bestie back in the day. That MUST mean he’s cool, right? Well, G-Star RAW agrees with us, so clearly we are right. The high-fashion denim line named him (and actress Gemma Arterton) as the face of their autumn/winter 2011 campaign. We love the fresh Brooklyn feel he brings to the European brand; who ELSE would pair oxfords and a skinny tie with some straight-leg G-Star jeans? *crickets chirping* Yeah, that’s what we thought.
We’re kind of obsessed with his first look. Leather jacket + jean jacket + too cool for school stance + disinterested wandering eye contact = automatic love fest. Plus, look at that luscious beard and curly side-swept hair. (OK, we’re aware he’s old enough to be our dad, so RELAX. We’re just paying compliments where they are due. And right now, it’s here. For him. ALLLL HIMMMMM MUHAHAHHAA.) In his second look, he goes a little more professor chic and swaps his leather moto for a denim suit jacket. But why such a FIRM grip on the rock, Gallo? Are you reading an UNBEARABLE student essay on Florence Nightingale and holding back from grabbing the red pen and doing grammatical damage on that bad boy? We’ll never know. What we DO know is, we need more Vincent Gallo in our lives. Wasn’t Buffalo 66 released, like, a BILLION years ago? We need some cut-off tee and tight pants action on the silver screen ASAP. (Also, if you’ve never seen that film and you’re AGE APPROPRIATE to watch it, do so immediately.)
