Lollapalooza Ladies Kerli, Taylor Momsen, And More Rock Out In Black And Leather

If there’s one style rule we abide by, it’s to avoid wearing leather in humidity for all sorts of comfort/weird sweat-related issues. But judging from some of our favorite ladies who were a part of the Lollapalooza lineup this year, leather only meant one thing: rock and roll. Despite the scorching summer heat in Chicago, Illinois, over the weekend, these singers proved they might not be fans of practical dressing, but they’re definitely fans of looking FIERCE no matter what. Here are some of our top picks from the music festival’s most fab performers.

Allow us to overlook, for a brief moment, Kerli’s Gothic Lolita-inspired outfit and pink-streaked hair, and concentrate on the giant marshmallow-like creations on her feet. We’ve got to give props to the Estonian singer, who is standing upright (somehow) on six-inch high platform sneakers (Nike Dunks, no less!) trimmed in pink lace and pearls. We really, really want to know where the girl shops.

Bebe Rexha goes for short and sweet.

The lead vocalist in Pete Wentz’s band Black Cards, Bebe Rexha, stuck to a clingy LBD and tights. Somehow, she managed to look cute (that heart headband!), edgy (studded fingerless gloves), and fab (long purply stick-on nails) all at the same time. Plus, she clearly enjoyed a blue-colored candy of some sort before she hit the stage…which makes us like her even more.

Ellie Goulding’s cropped bustier and leather shorts combo.

If you’re going to wear leather in soaring temperatures, it may as well be in the form of teeny tiny black shorts. But it’s Ellie Goulding’s leopard lace-up wedges that deserve a closer look. There should be a straight up medal for anyone who can jam onstage in those four-inch heels. This new leather-and-leopard Ellie Goulding rocks.

Taylor Momsen…and her legs.

We tried counting the buckles on Taylor Momsen’s platform boots but gave up (hey, we’re writers, not mathematicians). Instead, we decided to focus on The Pretty Reckless singer’s mini dress, which can only be described as thin strips of fabric held together with…magic. Or something. Honestly, we think it’s kind of genius, like a built-in ventilation system!

Lykke Li looking mysterious.

It’s no big surprise that our girl Lykke Li wore black, but she actually looks—dare we say it?—comfortable in a shiny cape-like jacket and what appear to be sheer biker shorts. Plus, her knee-high boots are actually a reasonable height. We’re also loving her smoky eyes; even after performing a vigorous set list, Lykke’s perfectly applied eyeliner and shadow remained smudge-free.
