Kristen Stewart, Selena Gomez, And Miley Cyrus Wear See-Through Shirts: Would You?

Aside from the abundance of lace that's been dominating the red carpet this summer, another see-through trend has recently emerged: the visible bra. We're not talking a peekaboo strap, either, we're talking a full-on, in yo' face, "here's my bra!" statement. Fashion darlings from Kristen Stewart to Gwen Stefani nail it. So what's their secret to taking this look from taboo to trend? It's all in choosing the right undergarments, ladies. First of all, you must be covered. COMPLETELY covered. This look is about snazz not sleaze, so save the lace for over not under.

See-through shirt trend

Take Kristen Stewart's black bra underneath a thin, white T-shirt at the Breaking Dawn panel at Comic-Con. What could be a fashion faux pas actually appears to be a brazen style choice that works with jeans and beat-up Converse. Selena Gomez wore a tank top underneath a gauzy lace top at a summer concert in Santa Monica, California. This is the more demure way to achieve the look, and we like it. Miley Cyrus, however, wore a slightly more extreme—yet still classy!—version to her "Gypsy Heart" tour press conference. She paired a white button-down with an undergarment that was more bustier than bra, then she threw on some long turquoise and feather necklaces to downplay it all. Wait, downplayed? More like well-played, Miley!

See-through shirts for evening

Selita Ebanks, Gwen Stefani, and Rose Byrne prove see-through shirts work for evening, too!

If you really want to bust out and embrace this trend in all its glory, follow "Runaway" Selita Ebanks' look. She wore a stunning Christian Cota web-like shirt and skirt to the launch of the new Pharrell Williams beverage, Qream. It's a slightly more provocative version, yes, but not overtly so because, like we keep emphasizing, her matte bra covers her COMPLETELY.

Another variation and one that transitions seamlessly from day to a more casual evening? Gwen Stefani's totally transparent top, demi-bra, and black blazer ensemble that she paired with wide-legged jeans while out and about in London. Actress Rose Byrne scored maximum style points for doubling trends at the premiere of Friends With Benefits. She opted for both see-through black lace and a visible bra then shifted the focus entirely by topping it with a cute gray leather waistcoat cinched over basic black pants and heels. We don't know about you, but we're stealing this going-out look for fall.
