Chloë Moretz attended the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup Final in Midhurst, England yesterday and we have to hand it to her, the young actress turned it out in the most sublime, occasion appropriate pastel ensemble ever. While most of us would've been clean stumped were we invited to a fancypants polo match, Moretz simply shimmied into her pale, pale yellow, knee-length Giambattista Valli jodhpur/culottes and Rupert Sanderson shoes. And while the demure ensemble may seem a bit post-Pygmalion-makeover, Julia Roberts-in-Pretty-Woman-polka-dots-at-the-horse-track, our girl keeps it current and playful with the addition of bright sunnies and chains. Let's break down the science shall we?
What we most admire is that this outfit attests to a somewhat formal al fresco event BUT nothing about it is overly stylized or costumey. While some, even fashion experts DECADES older than this dewy-skinned upstart have been flummoxed and relegated to the predictable floppy hats and asymmetrical florals, Moretz keeps it elegant, approachable and capped off with a narrow-brimmed straw hat and tousled, honey-colored hair. Well played Moretz.
