Raiding The 'Harry Potter' Cast's Closets: A Study Of Hermione Granger

The biggest thing to happen to cinema OF ALL TIME (Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2, natch) is just days away, so to keep up to snuff with the Wizarding World, MTV Style counts down which Harry Potter characters' closets we'd most like to raid.

So far, we got psyched on Fleur Delacour, the green goodness of Rita Skeeter, and then allowed ourselves to practice the dark arts with Bellatrix Lestrange. And then there were two, and no Harry Potter roundup would ever be complete without the brilliant and inspiring Hermione Granger (and her equally stunning real-life counterpart, Emma Watson).

Forget, if you possibly can (it's hard, we know) about Emma Watson for a second. Not that Emma Watson's Hermione is bad, it's that the burgeoning fashion maven's beauty can be slightly distracting. Once upon a time Hermione was an ugly duckling, a late bloomer who desperately needed braces. And then, as she angrily tells Ron, people seemed to realize she was a girl. This wizard's style is sensible. She wears practical things with a flair (her dresses are considered "floaty" and feminine) and, like all young women, figures out how best to play up her assets. Anyone in their right mind would raid Emma Watson's closet—but those most interested in maintenance, well-made basics, and a couple good witchy tricks would fare best. And since no one wardrobe is run through the ringer more than Hermione's (form, function, and weddings to consider!), she comes in at number two.

In the movie, the wedding dress worn to Bill and Fleur's nuptials is red, but we love the book's lilac version more so we picked this lighthearted number. Despite her grounded sensibilities, Miss Granger gravitates toward pinks and purples. Hermione is constantly digging around in her trusty bag, so we think she'd appreciate the turn lock of this over-the-shoulder satchel. And to tame her mane that "crackles with electricity" when she gets cross, a soothing, moisturizing serum should keep things under control.

Hermione spends most of the series in her white Hogwarts' shirt, but owning a backup basic button-down that feels as good as it fits is a smart investment. Hermione is a sucker for the classics, so an all-purpose rosebud salve (for lips, hands, and anything else that needs softening up) would be a staple in her big bunchy bag. And when the frizzy hair gets too unruly or it's been a late night studying herbology, a simple black headband (with a couple fun rhinestones) will keep everything in its rightful place.
