Elle Fanning for Marc by Marc Jacobs.

The world of fashion campaigns continues to grow ever-younger as Elle Fanning appears as the face of the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2011 campaign. One could argue that using the 13-year-old actress in this campaign is some sort of one-up response to the Miu Miu/Hailee Steinfeld ads, but pump the brakes on that judgment train just a sec. The two instances, though they maybe shed some light on just how YOUNG it means to say “Young Hollywood” nowadays (cue Suri Cruise’s phone ringing off the hook [sidenote: Do you think Suri Cruise has a cell phone? Probably, right? What about a second-gen iPad? I digress…]), are most likely unrelated because Marc Jacobs has a long-standing history with the Fanning fam.
The legendary designer featured Elle’s big sis, Dakota, in his Spring/Summer campaign back in ’07 when she was around the same age as these little tykes, AND D.Fann was announced last month as the face of Marc Jacobs’ new women’s perfume, Oh Lola. ANYHOW, now that your blood pressure has been calmed, let’s elevate it again as we take a moment to really appreciate this shot. Surely this midi-length printed dress cinched with a fabric belt is enough to send your systolic stats through the roof, but paired with that bag and bordeaux heeled oxfords with socks? Game over. Who’s got a defibrillator??? CLEAR.
