Tobey Maguire Is The New Face Of Prada Menswear

In a move that is perhaps as enigmatic as Michael Pitt for David Yurman, Tobey Maguire has been pegged as the new face of Prada. While we haven't seen the actor in a conspicuous role since Spider-Man (oooooh except that one about post-traumatic stress disorder where some casting genius made him and Jake Gyllenhaal brothers), Maguire's got a banner year next year with the release of Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby and Ang Lee's Life of Pi. So why is it that Tobey looks so sad?

There's something decidedly Brad Pitt-instant-iced-coffee-ad-on-the-side-of-a-Tokyo-bus about these print images, no? Like, what is going on with that harlequin mock turtleneck sweater? It's so, rando affluent dude in an international airport and that light on his face? It's VERY Angelica Huston in The Addams Family. Also, the layering is blowing my mind with how bizarre it is. I mean, I don't typically care for European menswear at this specific price point because it's all very ARAMIS duty-free cologne but a fine-gauge heathered crew-neck sweater under a V-neck and a hiiiiiiiiigh placket suit jacket with a truncated notch lapel? INSANE. No wonder Tobey looks so forlorn. He's as confuseled as we are. Or maybe he's just mad. He does appear a little stabbish in the latter spread. Again, JUST our two cents. Cheer up Tobey, we luff you.
