When it comes to the LBD, we're beginning to think the acronym is short an 'L' for "Lace." Celebs like Kelly Osbourne and Heidi Klum both rocked feminine black lace frocks at the 2010 American Music Awards, and Jessica Biel and Kristin Cavallari have also recently been spotted in the ladylike look. But how do you keep the Victorian vibe of lace from looking to grandma? We turned to the style bloggers Anna Katrina of Passport Glamour, Nicole Warne of Gary Pepper Vintage and Chandamheer Stacker of Pancake Stacker for tips on wearing this hot fall trend the right way. Read more below.
Anna Katrina of Passport Glamour
Boston-based blogger Anna Katrina demonstrates how little details can really maximize an outfit. Her Diane von Furstenberg dress (which retails for $325 at NeimanMarcus.com) is gorgeous by default, but it was the scalloped lace trim, deep V-cut in the back, and exposed zipper that really made us covet it. Anna kept with the all-black theme by teaming her sheath with Steve Madden ankle wedges and a long chain sequined clutch, for a minimal, but classic, look.
Nicole Warne of Gary Pepper Vintage
Australian blogger Nicole Warne's self-designed lacy look is daring and dramatic. Save for the singlet and shorts that she wore underneath, the gown is completely see-through! For a punch of color, she teamed her outfit with a red-hot clutch (which matched her lips, natch). And while this may not be suited for casual engagements, we can totally see it making a huge style statement at a more fashion-forward event. If you're up for showing some serious skin, stay tuned — Nicole will soon be selling her creation via Gary Pepper Vintage.
Chandamheer Stacker of Pancake Stacker
California girl Chandamheer Stacker's outfit is the amazingly versatile and wearable. Her Forever 21 dress could be gussied up for a party, paired with a blazer for work, or worn casually with boots and tights, as she so perfectly does here. Her braided necklace from Topshop adds a nice touch of sparkle, further proving how adaptable lace-print can be.
