Skinny jeans are hardly new, but celebs like Jessica Alba, Leighton Meester, and The City's Whitney Port have all recently been spotted wearing an updated version featuring cargo pockets. To find out how these rugged skinnies can be just as versatile as our sleek, flat-pocketed varieties, we turned to the style blogs. Our top style bloggers of the week, Kathleen Murillo of InspiraFashion, Toni of Fashion Butter and Caitlin Moran of Style Within Reach all showed off clever ways of wearing skinnies with surplus pockets. See how below.
Kathleen Murillo of InspiraFashion
California-based blogger Kathleen Murillo's dark olive utility jeans from Urban Outfitters are so snug (in a good way) that they balance out the large-and-in-charge pockets perfectly. The blue embellishments on her black blouse add a style punch, while her white peacoat from Target adds a crisp finish to the look. Her outfit is a great example of how basic pieces—skinny cargo pants, blouse, and topper—can come together to create a unified look.
Toni of Fashion Butter
Toni's brown Gap cargo pants are a slouchy, menswear-inspired look, which is a great contrast to her super-feminine stiletto booties. It's obvious this expat blogger, who relocated from the United States to Greece, fits right in with her new European counterparts when it comes to fashion-forward know-how.
Caitlin Moran of Style Within Reach
With flatter and smaller cargo pockets, Caitlin's blue-green Old Navy pants are a great way to baby-step into this look. Caitlin mixed her cargos with another hot trend—leopard print in the form of a blouse from Target. The best part? Her outfit is super affordable, leaving room for other worthwhile splurges, like her great vintage Chanel bag!
