Maxi skirts are a trendy item for fall, with everyone from Michelle Obama to Iman to Alexa Chung trying out the look. One of the reasons so many celebs love these long hemlines is because they can totally be adapted to your personal style. That’s why we trolled the style blogs for some inspiration on how to wear this skirt. Liana Brooke of Fashion Bag 411, Aisa Ipac of Drowning Equilibriums and Rachael LaRoche of Ordinarily Urbane all showed off their floor-length skirts in different ways, making them our top style bloggers of the week. Find out why below.

California-based blogger Liana Brooke’s maxi skirt outfit shows off her laid-back, casual Cali style. Her long skirt is velvet, a fabric that is perfect for fall, and the black color contrasts with the loose lilac tee. She also added one more color into this look with her turquoise necklace, and her silver accessories give the look some shine. This is a great example of how you can pair textures and colors together, while still keeping it casual and minimal.

Aisa Ipac of Manila in the Philippines knows how to pull off the mix-and-match approach to maxi skirts. She paired the bright chartreuse hue of her thrift store skirt — what’s old is new! — with an acid-wash jean motorcycle jacket. Then, she played down the two light colors by adding shades of black with her H&M booties, Ray-Ban sunglasses, and black tee. We love how she took something feminine, like this skirt, and made it into a bold statement by playing with colors and fabrics.

Rachael’s outfit is one of our all-time favorites, and the floral maxi skirts (another thrift store find) is one of the reasons why. The skirt alone is such a standout piece, but she paired with all matching items, like an oversize vintage Dolce & Gabbana bright red blazer, brown vintage belt, pendant necklace, camel tote, and lace-up Sam Edelman wedges. The whole look is so pulled together, we could totally imagine it on Hollywood starlets like Rachel Bilson, Jessica Biel, and Natalie Portman.
