How To Apply Silver Makeup Like Nicole Richie

Nicole Richie perfected the smoky-eye-turned-silver look! The starlet, who released her new book Priceless yesterday, lined her lids in silver to match her black and white Marchesa gown when she attended a gala in Los Angeles last weekend, and it looked gorgeous! The experts agree: "The shimmer makes her eyes sparkle and the black on the inside rims adds a little sultriness," says Taylor Chang-Babaian, author of Style Eyes who has worked with Nelly Furtado and Elisha Cuthbert. "For large eyes black liner on the inside rim gives the illusion of elongating as opposed to making them rounder," she adds. Read on for Taylor's tips on how to get Nicole's look.

Apply a light grey shimmering eyeshadow like Maybelline Expert Wear Eye Shadow in Silver Lining ($2.94, drugstores) on the base of your lid and along the bottom lashline.


Smudge dark grey eyeshadow (Try: Shiseido Luminizing Satin Eye Color in Slate, $25, on the outside corners of your peepers to add drama.


Sweep a little white shimmer shadow (We love: e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow in Angelic, $3, to the inner corners of your eyes.


Finally, apply black eyeliner like Tarina Tarintino Eye Dream Hyperliner in Tommy Jet ($17, on the inside rim of the lower lash line and along the top lid, winging it out at the corners of your eyes.
