Trend Alert: Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson, Chace Crawford, And More Boys Showed Off Their Preppy Style At The Teen Choice Awards

Who says girls have all the fun when it comes to dressing up? Last night, we noticed our favorite guys showed up to the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles looking especially dapper and cleaned up. Tees, plaid, blazers, vests, and some sexy button-downs dominated on everyone from Taylor Lautner to Chace Crawford to Zac Efron. Perhaps these guys were in a back-to-school state of mind, with fall just around the corner? We’re not sure, but we loved the return to preppy basics! Check out all the hottest trends below.

PLAID: Plaid kicks it off! Both Twilight heartthrobs Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner wore the classic print to last night’s awards. Taylor chose a maroon variation and wore it over J Brand's Kane-style jeans ($165). Meanwhile, Rob picked a blue shirt and rolled the sleeves up for a casual twist. Look at his styling technique! Did he just out-plaid Taylor? We think so! Who looked better?

MORE PLAID: Stephen “tWitch” Boss of Step Up 3D and So You Think You Can Dance fame tried plaid in brights like orange, blue, and red, Matthew Morrison wore a gray shirt tucked neatly into his dark denim, and funny man Jimmy Fallon paired his shirt over gray slacks. Talk about a versatile wardrobe item.

BUTTON-DOWNS: Meanwhile, button-down shirts were another hot trend for the night, making an appearance on the likes of Channing Tatum, Brian Austin Green, and David Beckham. They must've all chatted with each other and confirmed that the two or three top buttons just aren't worth buttoning, at the risk of covering up too much sexiness.

MORE BUTTON-DOWNS: And there were so many of these! Chace Crawford wore beige, summer's hottest color. Travie McCoy mixed things up by picking a shirt with a navy and cream paisley pattern. And we thought it was downright adorable how Justin Long wore his button-down buttoned all the way up. Rock the business casual, boys.

VESTS: Jason Derulo took the stage in a black leather vest, complete with studs and zippers. Extra points for matching gloves? YES! Then, Twilight's Kiowa Gordon wore a gray vest that features a swatch of blue, which really drew attention to his, ahem, abs. Also rocking the vest trend was Mark Salling who dressed his look up with a crisp white shirt and skinny black tie. We're not loving the vest on him. He looks too much like a waiter, don't you think?

BLAZERS: Elsewhere on the red carpet, blazers popped up on actors like Joshua Jackson, who stole our hearts with a tailored gray jacket and striped black-and-white tie. (Except his pants looked a little too tight, don't you think? Like, suffocating.) Chris Colfer looked cool and casual with his jacket-over-jeans combo, while Cory Monteith was dressed so handsomely in a black suit and tie. Way to blow the others away, Cory.

BASIC TEES: And finally, Zac Efron, Ryan Sheckler, and Charlie Bewley proved that you can’t go wrong with a fashion basic — tees! Zac looked great in a scoopneck black shirt, while Ryan opted for a V-neck cut. But it was the Twilight star Charlie who showed some serious skin with a plunging neckline! The stripes on the collar and down the sides of the shirt added a fun touch, but we REALLY loved how he rocked his accessories for the evening. Necklaces and bracelets on boys? Now that's something we'd like to see a little more often. Confidence, people!
