We're not sure if there's a Hollywood rule that you don't Make It as a celebrity until you slap your name on a perfume bottle and convince people to smell like you. But there must be, because everyone's doing it, and frankly, it may as well be a rite of passage. And this fall is no different. Which is why we've been tracking all the celebrity fragrances — from singers only — that are set to his in the next few months (if they haven't already) and the five to watch. See the list below.
Release date: July, available at Macy's, $35
The details: Mariah's new fragrance is all about candy. It includes a trio of scents named Honey, Mine Again, and Ribbon (pictured), which were inspired by hubby Nick Cannon's engagement ring-inside-a-Ring Pop proposal. If you want to smell like sugar, this is your pick. But we're not sure we do.
Release date: July, available on HSN.com, $55
The details: Sold exclusively on HSN, it's a blend of gardenia, pear, freesia, and sesame, which sounds delicious. She broke a record on HSN by selling 60,000 bottles in six hours, beating previous record holder Sean Diddy Combs. But what's even better, is every $1 of the bottle sold goes to the Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now.
Release date: September, $59
The details: Notes for this fragrance include spicy-floral red vanilla orchid and osmanthus petals, along with cedarwood, amber, and vanilla. This is probably going to be a hot follow-up to the success of her first fragrance, Heat. Sounds like she's got a double hit on her hands.
Release date: September, $18 to $60
The details: Brit's ninth fragrance is a blend of berries, flower petals and soft musk, and comes in a bottle covered in large rhinestones. We want that ridiculous bedazzled bottle on our nightstand, which is reason enough for us to snag one of these, even if we never spritz it.
Release date: September, $17 to $35
The details: We're excited to hear one of our favorite songstresses, Shakira, is coming out with her first scent this September. S by Shakira was inspired by chocolate and strawberries, baby skin, and honey, and contains notes of jasmine, sandalwood, and vanilla. "My feeling is that personal care and beauty should not only be effortless but accessible for everyone," she told WWD. Yes, it should!
Release date: November, $36
The details: Inspired by her love of cats, Katy Perry is coming out with a fruity blend of peach, jasmine, vanilla, and musk in a feline-shaped bottle. While when we think perfume we don't instantly thing "cat," we do hope this means we'll be seeing Katy in some Catwoman outfits to promote it. Because that would be awesome.
+ Who would you rather smell like — Mariah, Mary, Britney, Shakira, or Katy?
