Mad Men’s fourth season premiered on AMC Sunday night, and the old-school style the show is known for hooked us yet again. In the premiere episode, the show's costume designer, Janie Bryant, draped the leading ladies Betty Draper (January Jones), Peggy Olson (Elisabeth Moss), and Joan Holloway (Christina Hendricks) in scoop necklines and solid colors. We especially loved the bright red number that Joan wore — the gorgeous color paired with her pretty coral scarf felt so summery. Yet, remarkably, sweat-free. What, no shine?!

MAKE IT MODERN: Start with a basic shift dress, like this red number from Topshop ($80), and top it off with a long gold chain, like this rhinestone leaf necklace from Forever 21. It has the same simplicity and elegance as Joan’s, and costs just $5.80! Pull the look together with a matching scarf, only instead of flowers, update the look by trying plaid like a black, white, and red checked scarf from American Eagle Outfitters ($19.50) or a red and white plaid woven scarf from Aeropostale ($12.99). Cheers!
