Jay Z is taking his job as sports agent seriously and he's apparently meeting with the NY Mets "secretly" about his client Robinson Cano. According to the NY Post, Hov met with Mets COO and general managers at a "post Manhattan hotel" to discuss Cano's free agency status in baseball.
The Post predicts that Cano going to the Mets is probably not going to happen. Still, the meeting shows how hands on Jay Z is with his star baseball client and points to how the rapper may manage all of Roc Nation Sports' roster. “Jay is a very, very successful businessman, who has a keen understanding of value, a keen understanding of brands, and a keen understand of what this player, Robinson Cano, wants to accomplish in his career," said Brodie Van Wagenen, who according to CBS Sports, is actively involved with Cano's business at Roc Nation Sports.
Roc Nation Sports launched earlier this year in conjunction with talent house CAA. Kevin Durant was the first NBA signee and joined the likes of WNBA's Skylar Diggins, the NFL's Geno Smith, and of course, Cano as clients. In April, Hov explained the reason for his expansion into sports. "Because of my love of sports, it was a natural progression to form a company where we can help top athletes in various sports the same way we have been helping artists in the music industry for years."
