In the ultimate mashup, rapper Freeway and electronic artist Girl Talk are working on a new joint EP called Broken Ankles. The duo debuted the news at a secret show in Brooklyn this weekend per Rolling Stone.
"I’ve been working on a new EP and I decided I wanted to collaborate with one of my favorite rappers of all time," Girl Talk said. Girl Talk is known for his cross-genre mash-up records. Known for his zany dance party shows, Girl Talk recently mixed Michael Jackson's "Remember The Time" with Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" as well as Kanye's "Black Skinhead" and Marilyn Manson..
Freeway promised that Broken Ankles is "gonna be crazy" and then treated the crowd to his own catalog including "What We Do" and "Flipside." As a bonus, fellow Philly rappers (and former Roc-A-Fella Records label mates) the Young Gunz came out for their 2003 "Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop."
Freeway released his own Diamond in the Rough last year. He told Jay Z's Life + Times then, that a State Property album may be on the horizon...if everyone can stay out of jail." But when we all get home, we can make it happen. We already have 20-30 records with everybody that people didn’t hear. It’s about us getting together and hitting the road because that’s what the people want they want to see it."
