Vic Mensa Drops New Mixtape, ‘INNANETAPE’

By Maurice Bobb

There’s a hip-hop resurgence afoot in Chicago and one of the main reasons for that is Windy City newcomer Vic Mensa, who gave Chance the Rapper a run for his money on the song “Cocoa Butter Kisses,” from the groundbreaking mixtape, Acid Rap. Now, the SAVEMONEY rapper is poised to have his own sonic breakthrough with the highly-anticipated INNANETAPE project, which dropped Monday (September 30) at 3 pm.

Not surprisingly, Chance the Rapper makes a guest appearance on “Tweakin’,” while Joey Prup, Kenna, Ab-Soul and another burgeoning Chiraq MC, Rockie Fresh provide extremely quotable guest bars alongside “Netscape Peso.” The 14-track set is executive produced by Peter Cottontale and Cam for the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and features beats by superproducers Boi-1da and Hit Boy. Download here.

Standout songs include “Orange Soda,” the Lili K-assisted “Hollywood LA” and the DJ Dahi-produced “YNSP.”

“HEADPHONES, SPEAKERS, CAR SYSTEM W/E. TURN IT UP LOUD. #INNANETAPE IS HERE,” tweeted Mensa after the mixtape went live.
