Drake gave away free t-shirts in select cities yesterday in celebration of his new album Nothing Was The Same, but in NYC, fan fervor quickly turned into a brawl. Meanwhile, Drizzy continued his press rounds with a visit to "Ellen" where he played the datnig game.
Several outlets including Miss Info report that while fans waited in line at the Alife store in SoHo for a free October's Very Own (OVO) t-shirt, a fight broke out over the limited supply of shirts and the NYPD was called in to break it up.
According to Complex, police tried to quell the crowd hours before the shirts were even given away. Some authorities told people apparently that there were, "no shirts left," which understandably, made matters worse for die-hard fans. A video by Slick Jackson shows shoving and shouting outside of the store as the last shirts were given away.
The "Compliments of the Company" giveaway took place in Toronto, LA and NYC. Drake himself was at the LA store opening per his fan site Word on the Road. Fans who did get their free tees were all smiles.
Aside from causing t-shirt chaos, Drake recently sat down with talk show host Ellen DeGeneres to discuss his dating life. As Ellen flashed photos of several famous women, Drake was asked to confirm or deny dating them. "Uh yeah, great girl. We had our moment...Always uh, support and have love for her," he nervously addressed dating Rihanna.
He denied dating Nicki Minaj or Kim Kardashian but did reveal going on one date with "2 Broke Girls" star Kat Dennings and America's Next Top Model's Tyra Banks. "Geesh. I went on a date with her one time," he said about Tyra. What do a supermodel and rapper do on one date? Apparently, they went to Disneyland in disguise. Drake quickly then backtracked and said he wasn't sure if it was a date or a "get together." Earlier this year, we reported that the duo was spotted even in disguise.
The Nothing Was the Same rapper was a good sport with Ellen and closed with sharing that he is single currently, but ladies, he's "ready to mingle."
