Dark, moody and trippy, The Weeknd is previewing his forthcoming Kiss Land tour.
The usually mysterious singer shared his concert set with Revolt TV. From the video, we learn that the Toronto singer's set features video content and "cool light shows" as well as strange image doubling effects. "Do not do acid at my shows," The Weeknd warns fans in advance.
Last month, The Weeknd and Drake hooked up for "Live For." The single, about all the things the two successful artists live and die for, will be on The Weeknd's solo debut Kiss Land, set to be released September 10.
The Weeknd explained earlier to Complex that his album captures his life experiences beyond his native Toronto. "There’s a lot of cool twists with this album, because this album symbolizes everything that I’d never experienced in the past 21 years of my life. From when I was born to when I was 21, I never left Toronto. That’s why I’m such a city cat. Trilogy is my experiences in those four walls. Kiss Land is me doing the things I did in Trilogy in different settings.”
He adds, "Kiss Land symbolizes the tour life, but it’s a world that I created in my head. Just like House of Balloons symbolizes Toronto and my experiences there, but it’s a world that I created. When I think about Kiss Land, I think about a terrifying place. It’s a place I’ve never been to before that I’m very unfamiliar with.”
The Kiss Land tour kicks off this week in Vancouver and will hit several stops in the U.S. including NYC, Houston and Atlanta.
