New Orleans boogie-woogie piano player Dr. John gets an assist from a number of new-generation artists on his upcoming album, Anutha Zone (Aug. 11). The 13-track album, recorded earlier this year at the famed Abbey Road studios in London, will feature collaborations with members of British groups Supergrass, Portishead, Primal Scream and Spiritualized. Additionally, former Jam leader Paul Weller plays guitar and adds backing vocals to "I Don't Want to Know About Evil" and "Party Hell Fire," while Spiritualized appear on "Hello God" and on "John Gris." Supergrass guest on "Voices in My Head" along with Portishead drummer Clive Deamer, and "Sweet Home New Orleans" features Primal Scream keyboardist Martin Duffy on Hammond organ and Deamer on drums. The album was produced by John Leckie (Radiohead, The Verve) and also features the songs "Zonata," "Kiya," "Gris Gris," "Anutha Zone," "I Like Ki Yoka," "The Olive Tree," "Soulful Warrior" and "The Stroke."
