Portraying late rock legend Jimi Hendrix in the upcoming biopic “All Is By My Side” may have finally given rap recluse Andre 3000 the creative push he needed to hit the studio to record an album. When BET executive Stephen Hill caught up with the Outkast MC backstage at the America’s Most Wanted tour stop in Washington, D.C. Saturday (August 3), the “Hey Ya” rapper revealed that he has a solo LP coming out at the top of 2014.
“Me: hey what's up? You got the movie coming, right? Andre 3000: yeah...and I got a solo album coming top of the year. Me:*droptofloor*” Stephen Hill tweeted.

News that the elusive lyricist, who was recently spotted in the studio with Mike Will Made It, would finally feed his fans hit the Twittersphere like wild fire. Countless fans who felt “teased” by the ATLien’s guest spots on songs like Beyonce’s “Party” and Young Jeezy’s “I Do” celebrated the news cautiously, citing other promised releases like Dr. Dre’s Detox and Jay Electronica’s solo debut.
That trepidation may have served them well, considering that 3 Stacks’ publicist told Billboard that the rumored project was not official. "Regarding reports of a specific plan to release an album in early 2014," the rep says, "There is no official confirmation on that report."
But just because it’s not confirmed yet, that doesn’t mean it’s not happening. One thing’s for sure, though: ‘Dre is living proof that Walt Disney’s saying, “always leave them wanting more,” holds true.
