Just in case you haven’t been keeping up with 2 Chainz in the past couple of months, know that he’s been making his rounds with Pharrell, R. Kelly, and Drake as he readies the release of his sophomore album, B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time. On his latest album single, “Where U Been?” the Atlanta rapper enlisted producer Mike Will Made-It and Cap 1.
If you weren’t up on his cash flow, need he remind you on the hook, “I been getting money, where the f— you been?” An anthem of sorts, this hook would also fall in line with lyrics that would make for great Instagram captions. Listen to the track below.
Last week 2 Chainz sat down with MTV News’ Sway Calloway, revealing details about his forthcoming album. During his interview, he also elaborated on the reason he decided to pass on a Jay Z collaboration. “I went to the Justin [Timberlake] and Jay show in London, so I hollered at Jay,” Chainz explained. “And when me and ’Ye talked I said, ’You think I should put Jay on this song? And he was like, ’Me time. It’s your time, maybe next time.'” He continued. “For people that I’m huge fans of like Jay Z and Andre 3000, I feel like [there are] certain times in my career to do these songs.”
B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time, which continues the saga of last year’s debut album, is out September 10.
